School Night is a summer workshop series for alumni & students in Los Angeles.

Ever wonder what creative directors are looking for? Trying to get a publishing deal? Curious how today's publishers are navigating the modern music market?

Join students and alumni for a panel discussion on pursuing A&R as publishers and artists.

Panelists include:

Amanda Samii, '09, Sr. Creative Director - Kobalt Music.

Steven Gringer, B.M. '12, Creative Director - Pulse Music Group.

Amanda Samii

Senior Director, Creative, Kobalt Music Publishing, Los Angeles

Amanda Samii has been instrumental in signing hitmakers including Marshmello, who has released collaborations with Selena Gomez, Khalid, Migos, Anne-Marie, Logic, James Arthur, and Juicy J, earning him over two billion streams to date. She has also signed writers/producers including Finneas O’Connell, who is behind the success of Billie Eilish, some songs including “Ocean Eyes” and “Lonely” ft. Khalid as well as Rogét who is responsible for working on songs “Broccoli” D.R.A.M., “Bad At Love” Halsey, “Sky Walker” Miguel ft. Travis Scott. She also works with many other talented writers and producers including Michael Matosic, who co-write the hit “I Like Me Better” with Lauv and Peter Thomas who has releases with COIN “Talk Too Much” and many records with artist, Betty Who.

Steven Gringer

Steven Gringer is Creative Director, A&R at Pulse Music Group in Los Angeles CA. As Creative Director, he is responsible for signing new talent, managing the writer roster, as well as overseeing the company’s International Creative Affairs. With his knowledge of latin culture, over the past two years, Pulse has made inroads into the latin music market, forming a publishing JV with Marc Anthony’s Magnus Media in 2016. At Pulse Steven works with songwriter Marty James (who co-wrote the Justin Bieber remix of the Luis Fonsi + Daddy Yankee single “Despacito”), as well as other writers and producers who have worked with Enrique Iglesias, Kygo, John Legend, Dua Lipa, and J Balvin.

Prior to joining Pulse Music Group, Steven worked in A&R at Shapiro Bernstein Music Publishing and is an alumni of Berklee College of Music.
